A Majority of Board of Supervisors Support Legislation to Close SF’s Juvenile Hall by December 2021

A majority of the Board of Supervisors signed onto legislation introduced at the April 9, 2019 SF Board of Supervisors meeting to require the closure of San Francisco’s Juvenile Hall by December 2021. Supervisors Shamann Walton, Hillary Ronen and Matt Haney authored the legislation, and Supervisors Gordon Mar, Aaron Peskin and Sandra Lee Fewer have signed on as co-sponsors.

Help us pass the “Getting Home Safe Act”

On Monday, State Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) reintroduced SB 42, the “Getting Home Safe Act,” to curtail dangerous, dead-of-night releases from county jails. Skinner proposed the bill in response to the tragic death of Jessica St. Louis (who was one of her constituents). She was released from Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail at 1:25 in the morning on July 28th, 2018.
