Aishatu has worked with federal, state and local governments to conduct program development projects, social science research, evaluation and policy analysis to address issues that permeate the juvenile and criminal legal system. ‍ Aishatu holds a bachelor’s degree in both political science and intercultural communications from the University of Utah and a Master’s of Public Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Dr. Irvine spent eight years running Ceres Policy Research from 2002 through 2010, four years as research director at the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD), and two years as a Vice President at Impact Justice. As a researcher, she has served as the principal investigator of a national study of youth deincarceration; a national study of lesbian, gay, bisexual, questioning, gender nonconforming and transgender (LGBQ/GNCT) young people of color in the youth justice system.

Anna is a writer and PhD student. She graduated from the University of Cambridge with her Masters in Multidisciplinary Gender Studies in 2015, after having graduated from Stanford University with her bachelors in Medical Anthropology in 2014, as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Anna is deeply interested in gender and race issues in the US - her opinion pieces have been published by The Huffington Post, Darling Magazine, and For Harriet. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Sociology at the University of Cambridge as a Gates scholar. “It is my honor to be on the board because I am inspired by the way in which YWFC turns pain into triumph. It is incredible to witness young women and gender non-conforming youth reclaim their truths, their agency, and by doing so, force change in our world.”

Hillary Blout is a Bay Area native and leading voice for criminal justice reform. She is currently a consultant with Fair and Just Prosecution (FJP) where she develops programs for progressive DAs across the country to launch new initiatives that address wrongful conviction, immigration reform and other critical aspects of criminal justice reform.

“I joined the YWFC Board because it's clear that all the young women and gender non-conforming youth that call the Center a second home, realize they hold the keys to each other's liberation. This is so much more than a Center--it's a safety net, a leadership incubator, and a flaming torch guiding the path towards a more just society.”

Marcia Rincon-Gallardo MSW is founder and executive director of NOXTIN: Equal Justice for All. NOXTIN provides training, technical assistance, and consultation nationally on reducing racial and ethnic disparities of Chicanx/Latinx youth in the juvenile justice system. NOXTIN partners with the National Girls Initiative, Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Burns Institute to bring transformational change by being healing informed, community and system centered in its approach.

After her own encounters with the law and being incarcerated in the juvenile justice system, she eventually found the right path when she had her daughter at the age of 18. Today, she is the Chief of Staff for the Transbay Joint Powers Authority which oversees the Transbay Program, a $6 billion visionary transportation and housing project that transforms downtown San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Area’s regional transportation system by creating a “Grand Central Station of the West”.
